Riddle 04:38
gonna creep through the flatlands, gonna send you to seed gonna steal all your color, gonna drink all your mead gonna twist, gonna turn, gonna scratch, gonna stare best huddle together, cause this is my air well i'm lickin' my lips, and i'm rubbin' my palms gonna shrivel your stores, gonna freeze up the pond, go on build that fire, you know it won't last gonna laugh at your walls, cause I'm inside the house ahahahaha when the ground grows cold, and i've silenced the sun when i've soaked through your shoes, when i've rusted your gun When you know you can't hide, and your too tired to fight Remember these words, you'll know i was right

everybody likes to talk about the weather i don't know why, cause it's always the same everybody seems to know about the part i don't know why, but they never told me it's like all the fish speak the little fish language and they all learned how to wag their tails and when i try to speak the little fish language it comes out all in bubbles and then i drown everybody seems to have a name worth saying i don't know why they forget about mine everybody seems to know the game we're playing if i don't know the rules, is it a waste of my time it's like all the fish speak the little fish language and they all learned it when they were young and when i try to speak the little fish language it comes out all in bubbles and tangles my tongue oh, i can't figure out the niceties, people never say what they want you to hear maybe its a dance or song or a gesture, something that makes it all perfectly clear It's like all the fish speak the little fish language and they all learned it when they were young and when i try to speak the little fish language it comes out all in bubbles and tangles my tongue oh, i don't speak your language no, i don't speak your language no, i don't speak your language no, i don't speak it

they say in Portland everyone knows what not to wear i heard in Portland the city takes care of the air portland has a bar that makes its own infusions we wouldn't have to go to far, there's carpools leaving all the time portland is a place where we could have a garden we could settle down in a nice squat by the river with friends i heard in Portland everyone gets enough to eat they say in Portland there's always a place to sleep portland has a park that's biegter then ours portland's never dark, the climate's slightly more moderate portland is a port land, because there is a port there portland is called portland, even though there's another city named that in maine nobody get's old, in portland nobody get's cold, in portland there's no fucking cops, in portland it totally rocks, in portland in portland

nothing worse then falling for that same old line you'll do fine if you are worthy no use in denying our common ties meet the eyes of the ones you speak to ready your voice for the coming chorus sharpen your mind with the work of justice shelter the life of the common land secret are the places that the wise folk dwell sacred are the villages, sacred are the wells power in the edges, and power in the whole ancient are the names of the spirits groves no use in denying our common ties watch the tides and share the fruit from the aging trees that were once the seeds that our elders placed so that they could send help through time and space

words get in the way building barricades high so i see you less everyday girl i gotta know why but words get in the way selfish sentencing (i can) bridle, bit, and rein (tell when) tied to tight to (you're not listening, selfish sentencing) speak when spoken to (my light-) always miss the cue (-house is) hiding in the words you say (growing dimmer while your ship runs astray) can't you ever just say what you mean i'm the one that's suffering in this jagged compromise is your love just like the bee that stings singing oh no you've killed me now static simmering (all i) sorry for the sting (need is) i've been sharing (sheltered space where I can feel safe but you) empty vessels make (hide be-) useful canidates (-hind the) always last to take the blame (circled logic you've placed to draw the eye) i still love you do you love me to?

Weakness 03:28

Clarity 06:46
one day i went walking along the high ridges and saw such a sight that i almost was driven to float from on high to the welcoming waters that glimmered below in impossible patterns and when i returned to my vacated body i noticed the threads that derive from within me were part of a web on infinite complexity linking my soul to the ones all around me and as i drifted forward in time my clarity faded still i know the power that sleeps underneath what our senses perceive and our minds can conceive of see with the eyes of original purity embrace the all with the ancient simplicity you'll know the power that sleeps underneath what out senses perceive and our spirits can dream of

Paper Bag 04:04
found a paper bag, wonder if it saw the city wanna catch a cab, don't know where i'd go to i'd like to take you out, all in knives you'd look so pretty maybe we'll catch a show, sharper then a rose is i kinda miss the grass, always know the proper vender last time they kicked my ass, guess i shouldn't sleep there waiting to kill some time, never felt so much in danger i drink it til i'm blind, still can't make it taste good and i'm at the top of the week i never wanted nothing, never wanted nothing, never, from you and i'm at the end of the street i always catch you staring, always catch you staring, always acting wise with you gun and your disguise but a badge can't make you boss though tried to bum a drag, guess I should wear something queerer worse night i ever had wasn't much to sleep through they kicked em off the curb, wondered why I wasn't with em no one even said a word, they like it when you play dumb someone tried to sign their name red all over, red all over never really felt the same when i'm older, when i'm older

i was in a hurry, i was getting pretty worried giving more then what i got, every hour on every clock i was gonna make it even if it left me tattered i was paying what i owed, i was reaping what i sowed but it wasn't meant to be, the story wasn't me and i spoke I was sick and stable, I was idle but my eyes were caught on fire, burned to cinder, never ceasing not releasing i was just a mumble but my mind would not stop searching for the word that i forgot, for the key that fit the lock but it wasn't meant to be, the story wasn't me and I spoke oh, oh i was righteous, i was just, like the river, like the rust i could feel the mortal coil, i was gonna tell the world to sing sing all your praises, take them to the darker spaces ring ring bells are sounding, time for struggle, time for pain i thought that the tower would fall, every brick and every wall that the roads would crack, that the earth would take them back but it wasn't meant to be, the story wasn't me and i spoke i am nothing i am nothing i am nothing i am free

about

Going into the year 02013, I was sitting on a big backlog of unrecorded material that didn't really seem to work as a album. I decided to attempt to record and release two songs a month for the whole year as a "singles" series. This proved to be quite a lot of work, but I managed to put out 8 singles and the Counting Stitches EP that year. Those 15 songs have been collected here for easier listening and downloading. I'm joined on these songs by a ever-changing cast of characters far more talented then myself. Thank you all, I could not have done it without you. The original singles mostly featured cover art by Izzi Ceccanti, which is now available as a PDF booklet included with the full album.
